Marina Port de Mallorca goes one step further in its program of protection and care for the environment by getting the Carbon Footprint registration, compensation and CO2 absorption project of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment.
As a company dedicated to the nautical sector, one of its main goals is to work for the environmental care, which is why it focuses its efforts on promoting its protection among clients, friends, workers, and collaborators. For this reason, the marina continues carrying out initiatives to take care of the nature, and beside obtaining recognition in the field of the environment such as with the Blue Flag, EMAS and ISO 14001, now it has also managed to register in this important record.
The carbon footprint represents a contribution measure to the environment, in which the company is socially responsible and is committed to the reduction of greenhouse gases that are emitted in any organization. In order to calculate this indicator, it is necessary to know the data of fuel and electricity consumption of the installations, both in offices, machinery and in vehicles, etc. Once collected, these values indicate the amount of CO2 emitted to the atmosphere and allow the definition of emission reduction objectives and policies to implement an action plan against climate change.
This procedure has been carried out by the Management Department of Marina Port de Mallorca which has evaluated all the data during this time, seeking to progress continuously in terms of environmental sustainability of its facilities.
Marina Port de Mallorca also offers information on sustainable practices and performs awareness campaigns for its clients in order to take care of the Mediterranean Sea and the natural environment of the Balearic Islands.
