Marina Port de Mallorca continues its outreach programme about environmental care among its customers, and has created a new brochure of environmental recommendations which is handed out to each boat along with the documentation of entry. The aim of this piece is to motivate the marina users to follow ecological guidelines and therefore achieve greater care for the environment while enjoying the best of navigation in Mallorcan waters.
The content of the brochure with environmental measures collects, in different sections, useful and easy to read information on anchoring in the Balearics, providing recommendations of coves with sandy ground, coordinates, and a description of the beach and care to take into acount when dropping the anchor.
It also includes a section on Cabrera National Park, with all the information and contact details related to the request of mooring buoys in this protected environment. In this regard, it also contains a section on responsible anchoring where the characteristics of free anchoring, regulated anchoring with buoys or restricted anchoring are detailed. Also, recommendations to anchor safely avoiding damage to the environment are provided, but also avoiding putting the vessel at risk.
A special section on Posidonia gives general information about this endemic plant in the Mediterranean, offering fun facts and steps to avoid damage during navigation and anchoring.
Finally, the section on environmental advice provides guidelines on the maintenance of the vessels, responsible use of water and electricity, and about proper waste management, inviting customers to discharge waste into the green point at the marina, where they can can deposit all sorts of rubbish.
