Almost a hundred children of all ages with their parents, participated last Friday on the Constitution Day, of the Pirate Gymkhana organized by Marina Port de Mallorca and Marina Palma Cuarentena.
The objective of the event was to introduce children to the nautical world and create awareness of the importance of taking care of the environment among them. Divided in groups by ages, they enjoyed different activities on land and also at the sea. They learned the parts of a boat, how to make sailor knots and how to undo them, what is the posidonia, and how to act with a jellyfish sting, among other things.
Afterwards, all this information was put into practice in the gymkhana, and after following several clues that lead them from dock to dock and from marina to marina, they found the big treasure, presents and a snack to regain strength.
The most exciting try-out was when from Marina Port de Mallorca thay had to find the floating dock of Marina Palma Cuarentena, where a boat was waiting for them to help with the last try-out: conquer the pirate flag and get to the treasure.
Parents and children could enjoy of a different and fun sunny festive Friday.
